In recovery, finding a substitute for old habits and coping mechanisms is key. Recovery is about identifying what that space truly needs and finding healthier, more fulfilling ways to fill it. It’s a process of rebuilding trust—with yourself and others—rediscovering what brings you joy and learning how to live in alignment with your values. That first step of recovery simply means you’re ready to try something different, to open a door you’ve kept closed for too long. It means you’re willing to explore a new path, even if it feels unfamiliar, because deep down, you know the one you’ve been walking is no longer serving you.
